Greazefest Returns To Redland Showgrounds for a 21st Anniversary Rock’n’Roll Celebration
Hot rod and rockabilly fans from all parts of Australia are planning on getting back together for a huge celebration when GreazeFest returns to Redland Showgrounds for the event’s 21st Anniversary.
Running from Friday July 30 to Sunday August 1, the three-day family-friendly festival will make its welcome return, after it’s 2020 event was postponed due to the Covid lockdown.
GreazeFest 2021 will present an exciting all-Australian program of entertainment featuring the country’s best rockabilly performers, pin-up parades, art exhibitions, pinstripers, tiki carvers, retro markets and two days of dazzling hot rod displays.
“The rockabilly and hot rod scene is a very interactive lifestyle. We have missed our friends and our way of life throughout 2020 and are looking forward to reconnecting our communities at GreazeFest,” said event director Lori Lee Cash.
“People have been waiting for this weekend for two years, thinking about their outfits, working on their hot rods and making plans to get together with their friends throughout Australia. Now with vaccines being rolled out and confidence returning, we are expecting this year’s festival to be more significant than ever before,” Mrs Cash said.
“We are very pleased to announce our GreazeFest Covid-Safe Event Plan has been approved by Queensland Health,” said Mrs Cash.
Queensland artists to perform include the vintage science-fiction group Men Into Space, who perform dressed as mid-century astronauts, the high-energy Hi-Boys, the vintage surf sounds of Lovejoy Surf, master rockabilly trio Slim Gritty, the swinging rockabilly energy of Krisofer Dommin & The Oztones and many more.
Women in music are well represented at GreazeFest, with original sounds from rockin’ lady Cherry Divine, country sweethearts Twang, Australia’s favourite rockabilly singer Miss Teresa & Her Rhythmaires, as well as rhythm’n’blues shouter Peaches & The Alphasonics.
When festival-goers take a break from jive dancing, they can enjoy the spectacle of over 400 classic vehicles from the 1930s to the 1960s across Saturday (July 31) and Sunday (August 1), with a dazzling display of hot rods, muscle cars, vintage motorbikes, lowrider bicycles and more.
GreazeFest pinups will be gracing the stage with two stunning parades, including "Wild West Sweethearts” (Sat July 31) featuring pinups dressed how the west was worn, in their finest western wear, fringed dresses, silver buckles and boots. “The Hot Rod Belle” (Sun Aug 1) will get your motor running with a high-octane, hot-rod rockin’ pinup parade for rebel-rousers.
For the lovers of retro art, GreazeFest will present “Built for Speed”, an inspiring and colourful two-day art exhibition with creations by talented Australian artists, showcasing our love affair with fast machines, especially the classic and custom kind.
The GreazeFest vintage and retro markets will make their welcome return with over 100 specialist market stalls featuring rockabilly clothing, automobilia, artwork, music, hair grease and accessories, cowboy boots, model cars and more, while gourmet food trucks and licenced bars plan to keep revellers satisfied across the three days.
Centrally located at Redland Showgrounds, in the beautiful Redlands Coast, the GreazeFest event provides on-site parking, and ticket discounts for advance purchasers.
