GreazeFest Entertainers in 2008

The Detonators [Vic]

You asked for 'em and you got 'em, The Detonators are heading to GreazeFest for their only Queensland show in who knows how long. The Detonators are out to prove their credentials as one of Australia’s best live acts and are visiting GreazeFest as part of their ‘Live at The East’ album tour. Recorded one hot, steamy night last December 2007, at the East Brunswick Club in Melbourne, the album highlights the strength of the songwriting, the quality of the grooves and the personalities that make up the motoring muscle of this act.

The Detonators’ only Brisbane show will be at The Greazers' Ball on Saturday night and they'll be
playing two full throttle sets for you - one before midnight and one after midnight. Can you go the distance?

The Vaudevillains [Vic]

Here's a new band from Melbourne who received the highest number of votes on the 'who do you want to see perform' question on the GreazeFest web site. The Vaudevillains have been quick to establish themselves as an exciting and energetic band and their fan base has grown dramatically in their short time on the scene. The trio has scored supports for Nekromantix, Zombie Ghost Train and Tiger Army and already have an ep released ‘Vaudevillain Nights’.

The Flattrakkers [NSW]

The Flattrakkers hit the highway in top gear in late 2004 playing straight out rockabilly to a very welcoming audience. Word quickly spread, an all-original cd ‘High Octane’ was released and their live performances had everyone raving. The trio floored the crowd at the Greazers Ball last year and these rockin’ cats will be back in 2008 to rev up the dance floor at the GreazeFest Hot Rod Show. Stay tuned for their second cd release

The Nervous Wreckers [NSW]

The Nervous Wreckers sit with one lizard-skin cowboy boot firmly placed in both paddocks, paying as much due to Hank the originator as they do to Reverend Horton Heat the accelerator. The Wreckers will be hitting the highway for a return visit to GreazeFest, after their top performance at last year's festival.

Checkered Fist [NSW]

Checkered Fist is a young, psychobilly trio from the central coast of New South Wales. Now, when I say young, dig the ages of these cats - Julian (lead guitar, 15 years old), Jake (drums, 14 years old), and Damon (double bass, 11 years old). But, this isn’t some novelty act, these dudes seriously rock! They already have an EP of original tunes released ‘Where Society Leads Us’, which is getting heaps of radio airplay.

Bad Moon Company [Qld]

The deep suburban jungle of Brisbane has bred a mighty, three-headed, psychobilly beast named  Bad Moon Company. Influenced by bands such as The Cramps and The Misfits, these nocturnal cats really know how to rattle the can and will have you jumping around to their hard-rockin’, psycho-sounds.

Doug Wilshire & The Tailspinners [Qld]

Many people would remember Doug Wilshire who fronted the now-disbanded Chrome Daddies for many years. His new outfit The Tailspinners hit the ground running at the start of 2008 and they are fast developing a following of rockers keen to reconnect with that Chrome Daddies’ magic. The Tailspinners resurrect rockabilly and hillbilly classics plus Wilshire originals.

Men Into Space [Qld]

Look to the skies. If you haven't seen of these spacemen yet, don't miss 'em when they land at GreazeFest. The Men Into Space music comes from the era of the Sputnik and their stage set could be from a B-grade space movie.  "Our instruments have been custom designed for space travel and we play in our space suits and helmets...you never know when you have to play in a venue with no atmosphere" reveals bassist Jon ‘Comet’ McCauley.

The Ten Fours play a tough, tight and loud blend of rockabilly, psycho and voodoo rhythm'n'blues. Built for speed by ex-members of The Chrome Daddies, The Slingshots and The Tractor Jacks, this awesome foursome put the pedal to the metal every time they hit the stage.

Warren Earl & The Atomic Rockers

The multi-talented Warren Earl, recently made the move to Brisbane and quickly pulled together a quality band. Earl has released a cd, ‘Original Rockabilly’ and it has a cool, stripped back, authentic rockabilly sound. All the tunes are written by Warren Earl and he even played all the instruments on the cd.  Earl describes his music as “heavily influenced by 1950's rockabilly, hillbilly boogie and western swing”. Cheers to that!

The C.R. Boys feature Jon Flynn on bass, Dangerous Dan on guitar and Coojee Timms on skins, so he’s in good company. The band’s tunes are heavily influenced by the modern European rockabilly sound, which is a cool change from the usual American inclination of many bands of today.
